Well we are back from Ireland and the trip was amazing! It rained two days, but the sights were out of this world. The pictures don’t do it justice. We stopped in all the small towns, ate at little restaurants, hiked, and of course drank some Guinness & Jameson. Yum! My sister, who is 7 months pregnant, even participated in everything except the drinking. I was not ready to come back, but it is a trip I will never forget.
The sights in Ireland. I loved the sheep the most
Stopped for lunch out of the trunk (or as they say in Ireland.. the boot)
Cliffs of Moher
Went off the beaten path and got these photos. They are my favorite!
Plus, I give my defense tomorrow so after that I will be DONE with my masters!! Wahoo!! It is going to be a good week!
Wish me luck!
This week I’m back in the lovely state of Colorado to celebrate my grandparent’s 60th wedding anniversary! It’s amazing to look at the family and think that we are all here because of two people. They raised some really wonderful kids and grandkids (well, in my opinion).
This was us a few years ago in Utah. (yes, there are 36 of us… and now that my sister’s married with one on the way, should I say 37 1/2?)
The entire family came out to spend the week forgetting about work, enjoying a beer and relaxing. I use the word relaxing lightly, however, because this week has been anything but relaxing in the lazy sense of the word. We have been hiking, biking, white water rafting, going to rodeos, and making day trips to all the surrounding cities. Whew! I’m exhausted but in a very “relaxed” sort of way!
On Thursday we will be throwing a surprise vow renewal for my grandparents with all the aunts in the bridesmaids dresses my Grandma had in her own wedding! Shh. Don’t tell. Then finishing the night with fireworks next to a lake and surrounded by mountains. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the 4th of July.
Hope you all are having a wonderful 4th of July week/weekend!
Happy 3rd of July and happy 60th wedding anniversary to two seriously amazing grandparents. We all love you so much 🙂
Alright, so today I turn 25. Yes, I know it’s not a big scary age, nor is it even that old. I think the only thing that gets to me is what I how growing up 25 seemed so far away.
Don’t get me wrong, I love where I am at right now. I have an incredibly supportive family, friends who I don’t think I could ever live without, an incredibly caring boyfriend and a job I love. I think it is just that the entire time growing up, 25 seemed like such a “big girl” age and now that I’m here it doesn’t seem that grown up.
I’ve been joking with my friends all week about how I can start to feel my hips give out.
Aside from the age, I really love birthdays! I love that you can get everyone together and see people you normally don’t get to see. I love balloons, cake and eating at really fun places. Birthday’s are so much fun for me! I always feel like I’m back in my childhood, counting down the hours until my friends come over for my birthday party. The anticipation that builds up before everyone arrives, making the gift bags, opening presents and of course, eating the pizza I always requested for my party!
This year was a little different and a bit more subdued, but I loved every second of it. I had all of my friends over on Saturday and the boyfriend make the usual owl cake. (3 years running and he just keeps getting better)! And then Sunday my family came over to our new apartment.
Needless to say, I think 25 will be a great year!… or as I like to call it, my 4th anniversary of my 21st birthday! ; )

This week and weekend have truly gotten the best of me. It has been a frustrating last few weeks, but I am finally back on track.
I think if this experience has taught me anything, it’s that I’m still learning…
Thank you to all the friends and family who have been there for me. You’ll never know how much I appreciate your support.
I’d like to take the time to give thanks for everything I have in my life.
I’m thankful for my family. They are always there to make me smile and (as cliché as it sounds) have turned from family into my best friends. This doesn’t just include my immediate family, but also my cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. They truly are an amazing group of people who I am lucky to be related to.
I am thankful for my friends. They have always been there for me and without them I honestly am never happier than when I get to spend time with them.
I am thankful for my boyfriend, who constantly supports me.
I am thankful for those who are not with me today. They have taught me so much and I am so grateful for the love they showed me and the lives they touched while they were around.
Finally, I am thankful for long runs… they never fail to take my mind off anything that might be bothering me and give me a chance to reflect.
What are you thankful for?
